Custom tower internals for optimal distribution and support

Lantec designs and manufactures the components that make packed towers work: liquid distributors for uniform flow, collector distributors for multi-section towers, multi-beam gas injected (MBGI) packing supports with near-100% open area, grid supports, and mist eliminators. Each component is engineered to minimize pressure drop while ensuring optimal performance.

Column Internals

Liquid Distributors

All Lantec liquid distributors are supported from a circumferential ring supplied as an integral part of the column. Distributors are furnished in sections suitable for installation through manway of specified dimension (normally 24"). Assembly hardware is included.

Pressure drop: Normally 0.25" WC or less.

Collector Distributors

Collector distributors are used when multiple packing sections are incorporated in the column design. Risers are generous in cross section and adequately covered, preventing water entrance and assuring free flow of air.

Pressure drop: 0.35" WC or less.

Multi Beam Gas Injected (MBGI) Packing Support

The MBGI packing support design offers almost 100% open area, minimizing pressure drop to the lowest practical level. MBGI construction allows installation through manway with manway size specified (normally 24"). All necessary assembly hardware including leveling clamps is provided.

Pressure drop: 0.1–0.15" WC.

Grid Supports

Grid support designs feature 75–80% open area. Design permits installation through manway, size to be specified by column designer (normally 24"). All necessary assembly hardware is included.

Pressure drop: Approximately 0.45" WC.

Mist Eliminators

Pad mist eliminators include support grids at top and bottom. Mist eliminator applications require special consideration to assure removal of entrained moisture in the effluent gas stream. Lantec provides application-specific recommendations based on gas velocity, droplet size distribution, and removal requirements.
