LANPAC® Tower Packing
Reduce tower heights by 30%
LANPAC® delivers performance that shouldn't be possible: better mass transfer efficiency than smaller packings, even with their higher surface area. Optimized LANPAC bed designs reduce packed bed depth, tower height, and blower energy in air strippers, degasifiers, and high-load scrubbers — without sacrificing performance.
Performance Beyond Its Size Class
LANPAC's patented single-piece design creates a geometry that outperforms the theoretical expectation for its size class: lower pressure drop than smaller packings, higher mass transfer efficiency than larger ones. The result is shorter packed beds that achieve the same or better removal in less tower volume — directly reducing capital cost on new towers and increasing throughput capacity on retrofits. In independent third-party testing by the San Bernardino Water District, 3.5" LANPAC showed lower HTU than every competing packing tested — including smaller sizes with higher nominal surface area (Case History 39).
Fouling Resistance in Difficult Streams
LANPAC's superior wetting capability eliminates the dry spots where scale nucleates and biological deposits accumulate. The surface stays wetted under variable liquid loading conditions, promoting self-cleaning rather than buildup. This makes LANPAC a reliable choice for streams with mineral content or variable flow — applications where conventional packings require frequent cleaning or early replacement.
Materials and Sizing
LANPAC is available in 3.5" and 2.3" sizes in polypropylene, glass-filled polypropylene (10% glass fibers, 90% PP), and polyethylene. The 3.5" size carries NSF certification for direct contact with potable water.
NSF Certified
3.5″ LANPAC is available with NSF certification for direct contact with drinking water in treatment systems with a minimum flow rate of 1.6 gallons per minute per square foot (96 gallons/hour/ft²).

-
Shorter packed beds — Lower pressure drop and higher mass transfer efficiency combine to reduce required bed depth, shortening towers and cutting capital cost
-
Lower blower energy — Reduced pressure drop across the packed section means smaller motors and lower operating cost over the system's life
-
Fouling and plugging resistance — Superior wetting eliminates dry spots, preventing scale and biological deposit buildup in variable or contaminated streams
-
NSF certified for potable water — 3.5" LANPAC meets NSF requirements for direct contact with drinking water
-
Wide material and size selection — PP, glass-filled PP (GFPP), and PE; two sizes for towers from 2 feet diameter to large-scale industrial
