Corpac® Ceramic Structured Media
Corrugated ceramic for low pressure drop applications
Corpac is Lantec's ceramic corrugated structured media for applications requiring both chemical resistance and minimal flow resistance. The vertically oriented corrugated sheet geometry delivers significantly lower pressure drop than random ceramic packing, translating to reduced blower energy and lower operating costs in dryer towers, acid gas absorbers, and tail gas scrubbers.
Structured Geometry Advantage
Random ceramic packing creates tortuous flow paths that resist gas movement. Corpac's vertically oriented corrugated sheets align with the primary flow direction, reducing fluid resistance while maintaining effective gas-liquid contact. The result is higher capacity per meter of packing height and improved process efficiency — whether that's drying, absorption, or scrubbing.
This lower pressure drop directly reduces energy consumption for blowers and fans. In continuous operation, the savings compound over the system's lifetime.
Ceramic Durability
Corpac's low-porosity ceramic construction resists corrosion in aggressive chemical environments where metals would fail and plastics would degrade. The material's elemental composition provides stability at high temperatures and through repeated thermal cycles — critical for RTO applications and process towers with variable heat loads.
The ceramic surface maintains consistent wetting properties without absorbing process fluids. This dimensional stability preserves the structured geometry that delivers Corpac's performance characteristics over extended service life.
Where Corpac Fits
Corpac serves applications where structured ceramic geometry is preferred over random packing: systems where pressure drop drives operating cost, towers with height constraints, and processes requiring both chemical resistance and thermal stability. For applications where random ceramic is acceptable and cost is primary, see Saddles. For RTO heat recovery applications, see MLM or LanteComb.
